EVANGELISM
Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others
There are many methods of sharing Jesus with others. The Romans Road, the 4-Spiritual Laws, and various pamphlets and tracts. Probably the best way, when someone is ready, is to give your own testimony of what Jesus has done in your life -- or why you believe in Him.
Sharing Jesus with others is called “Evangelism”. The best way to go about evangelizing people is to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit. That is what Jesus did. He would bypass many people, going straight to the ones that the Father, by His Spirit, would show Him. He would speak directly into their life, and they would believe in Him.
Living your life so that others can see Jesus living in you is a beginning point to evangelizing others. Do you have something that others don’t have? Do they want it? Or are you just like
every other guy out there. Showing the love of Jesus to your friends and neighbors by going the extra mile to help them, always having a caring and respectful attitude, and having a reason for the hope that is within you is another step.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will give you opportunities to plant seeds in your conversations with others. With those that are open to talking with you, continue to plant more and more seeds under the direction of the Holy Spirit. With those that are not open to talking with you about spiritual things, pray for them in your prayer time until they are ready. There are many prayers using Bible verses that you can use to pray concerning them. Here are a few:
1. Pray that God draws them to Himself
Jn. 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him….”
2. Pray that their faith will be built up
Rom. 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is
heard through the word of Christ.”
3. Pray against satan, that he cannot blind their minds to the truth
2 Cor. 4:4 “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they
cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
4. Pray that the Holy Spirit works in them, guiding them to salvation
Jn. 16:8-13 “When (the Holy Spirit) comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard
to sin and righteousness and judgment. . . . He will guide you into all truth….”
5. Pray that God sends workers to lead them to Christ
Mt. 9:37,38 “Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers
are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’”
Following. you will find a modified form of the Romans Road and a Good News flyer, which you can use to
help you witness to others, as well as a "What is My Testimony?" heading that you can copy and paste.
What is My Testimony?
Your testimony is simply telling someone how you came to know Jesus, and/or what
He means to you & what He has done in your life. Take a few moments to jot that information down in an outline. From there, you can begin to put together your testimony.
The Romans Road
(Sort Of)
(Rom. 3:10; Rom 3:23; Rom. 5:8; Rom. 6:23; Rom. 10:9)
...God showed his great love for you by sending Christ to die for you while you were still a sinner. (Rom 6:23 TLB)
You need salvation because: Rom. 3:23 “...all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
What’s so bad about sinning? Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. “
your sins. He took your sin upon himself, and died for and instead of, you! Because of what Jesus did, your spirit can dwell with God forever.
John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
So, how do you get eternal life? Romans 10:9-10 “For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in his heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation.”
Aren't there other ways to get eternal life? Can’t you work for it or something? Acts 4:12 “There is salvation in no other, for there is no other name under heaven, except that of Jesus, given among men by which we must be saved.” (paraphrased) Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
So....... let’s ask God right now to forgive your sins, because of what Jesus did for you, and tell Him that you want to live for and follow Him. Because: Romans 10:13 “Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” And: 1 John 1:9 “...if you confess your sins he is faithful and just to forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.”
Now you will have the peace that only Jesus can bring: “So now, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” (Rom 5:1)
You are now a new creation -- your spirit within you has been renewed! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Cor 5:17-18
THE GOOD NEWS !!
Does God care about me?
Yep, he sure does! The Bible teaches us about God’s love for everyone; "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." [John 3:16]. God loves us and wants us all to be with Him.
What hope have I got?
Jesus Christ paid that death penalty for us, and calls to us to follow Him; "Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands." [1 John 2:2-3] That means that Jesus died instead of you, and you can now be close to God if you believe in Jesus, the Lamb of God, and the sacrifice he made for you.
How can I make peace with God?
Jesus was raised from death into New Life; "Because of our sins He was given over to die, and He was raised to life in order to put us right with God. Now that we have been put right with God through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord, Jesus Christ." [Romans 4:25 & 5:1]. Instead of death, God promises us New Life with Him, too, if we have faith in Him !
If you realize that you need to be ‘put right’ with God, then you need to accept Jesus as your Lord and the Saviour of your life. Ask God to forgive you for your sins and ask him to enter your life and make a new person of you. "But if we confess our sins to him, he can be depended on to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong." [1 John 1:9] This process of turning back to God is called Repentance.
By giving yourself to him in this way you are made new, or "born again", spiritually. "... for it is his boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again so that we are now members of God's own family..." [1 Peter 1:3] And so Jesus becomes part of your new life - you become part of God’s family. This is called Salvation.
