Prayer

4 steps of Prayer -- Remember the word ACTS

A - Adore.

Praise God, adore and honor Him. He deserves all praises.

Example: Lord, we praise and adore you. All glory and honor are yours. You are the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. You are my Lord and Saviour. The Prince of Peace. The Almighty and Loving God. My tower of refuge in times of trouble.

As we praise God:

1. It gives God the glory.
2. It is declaring, proclaiming confessing who God is and the character of God.
3. God's glory is placed above everything and above any other god and satan.
4. Psalm's 22:3 states, God inhabits the praises of His people.

Some suggested scriptures to use in praising God:

Psalm 28:7, Psalm 33:4, Psalm 103:11, and Psalm 118:14.

You can use God's many names that people have called Him in every situation:

Jehovah Raffa - our Healer, Jehovah Jireh - our Provider, Jehovah Shalom - our Peace and there are many more.

C - Confess.

Ask God to reveal areas in your life that are not pleasing to Him. Then ask for forgiveness of all your sin, confessing it to God. Name the sins specifically and agree with God that it is sin. By faith, thank Him that he has forgiven you on the basis of his promise. Do not depend on your feelings that the enemy may give you. That feeling that you are still unforgiven. The promise of God's word, not our feelings, is our authority.

Example: Jesus, please forgive me for being bad today at school. I pushed my friend because I got angry towards him for calling me names. Help me to be kind and to love my friends.

T - Thanksgiving.

Another important part of prayer is giving thanks to God for all the things He has done for us. He gives us blessings every day. He renews our mercy every morning when we wake up. He provides all our needs. He loved us first. He helps us through our difficult problems here on earth.

Example: I thank you Lord for sending your one and only Son to save us.

S - Supplication (Intercession).

This is the last part of prayer. We come before God to intercede on behalf of ourselves, other people, friends, and family. We ask God to respond in our prayer request and we can include everything that is in our heart. He will also reveal those people to our mind that need prayer this very moment. This is an act of standing in the gap for people who don't know God and those who cannot pray in different situations. We can pray using our prayer language when we don't know how to pray. The Holy Spirit knows what to pray through us.

Example:

We want to pray for the people who are sick, and that God will heal them.

Pray for your family, your brothers and sisters in Christ, your church, your pastor, and even yourself of your needs.

Oh Lord, Let your kingdom come and let your will be done on earth and in heaven.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
