The Helmet of Salvation
Ephesians 6:17-18
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions
with all kinds of prayers and requests.
A helmet protects the head. Can you imagine playing pro-football without a helmet?
That would be dumb. You'd be in big trouble!
In the spiritual war that you are in with satan, you have to protect your head.
What goes on in your head has a big influence over what goes on in your heart.
When you put on the helmet of salvation, you are putting on much more protection than you think.
Did you know that the name of Jesus in Hebrew -- Yeshua -- means "salvation"?
The meaning of the word "salvation" is so much more than just accepting what Jesus did for you and
being saved. It definitely means that Jesus bought and paid for your relationship with the Father
to be restored. But it also means: health, deliverance, safety, defender, to be free, avenge,
preserve, help, rescue, aid, victory, prosperity, liberty, and soundness of mind and body.
Wow! Jesus paid for everything you could ever need. He purchased your wholeness.
A whole "salvation package". When you wear the helmet of salvation, you are putting on all of these things.
And you are putting it on over your head, your mind. And from there into your heart, as the Holy Spirit shows
you the reality of what Jesus did for you.
With the helmet of salvation on, you will remember all that Jesus purchased for you. When satan tries to tell you that
you are sick or will always be sick, that you are a worthless sinner, that you'll never be able to overcome your problem,
you'll always be in need, or you'll never break free, and all the other lies he tries to deceive you with,
you will be able to overcome him with the word of your testimony. You will be able to tell him everything that Jesus
included in your "salvation package". You will be able to claim them as your own.
