Giving/Stewardship
Lessons in Giving
This lesson is designed to be interactive. Please have the children give feedback on each of the scriptures to find out what they think it means and give examples of the principles expressed.
As Christians, we want to become just like Jesus and His Father. We must live every part of our lives in the way Jesus did. We must strive to be like Him and follow the principles that God gave us in Giving and Stewardship over what he has given us.
*
Everything and everyone in the World belongs to God. We are His Creation and everything is His.
Ps 24:1: “The Earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein”
*
We are created for God’s pleasure.
Rev. 4:11: “Thou art worthy O Lord to receive glory and honour and power;
for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
*
God gave us dominion in the earth.
Gen 1:26-27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;
male and female created he them. And God blessed them and God said unto them,
Be Fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
*
We are told to Honor God with our Substance. We are supposed to give unto the Lord and His purposes.
Prov. 3: 9: “Honor the Lord with thy substance,
and with the firstfruits of all thine increase.
*
God requires us to give to further the Kingdom of God.
Mal 3:8-10: “Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me… In tithes and offerings….
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house.”
*
God desires us to be like him.
Jn 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
so that whosoever, believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
*
God wants more than our money – he wants our very lives to be given in service for Him. Because God gave us His Son, Jesus, the Christ, we are to give him our life in return.
2 Cor. 5:15 “He died for all, that they which live should not
henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them and rose again.”
God requires us to seek Him and offer our lives to him. He tells us to “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” We have faith in God and when we trust God we are not afraid to give to others because God gave to us and desires us to be like him. Luke 6:38: “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
