Faith
I. What is faith?
Hebrews 11:1-2
Substance= confidence (stand under, as in a foundation)
Hope=expectation
Evidence= demonstration
* Faith is not convincing yourself that something is, faith is KNOWING, and BELIEVING that something is. It is possession of something before hand. ( ie; salvation, provision, spiritual growth) Faith serves us better than the senses because it allows us to see past the "natural world".
2 Corinthians 5:7
Romans 12:3
Measure= particular capacity (of the individual)
II. How do we get faith?
Hebrews 11:6
Romans 10:17
* Faith comes from knowing God’s will according to God’s word and believing it.
* God’s word is God’s will.
* You must study the word of God in order to be familiar with the word of God and thus the will of God.
* It’s very difficult to get to know someone if we never spend time with them. It is the same with God, in order to get to know HIM, we must spend time with HIM.
Proverbs 4:20-21
ACTIVITY:
Have the children make a box and decorate it. Have the children find something to pray for something specific. It can be anything they desire to pray for individually. Have them write it on a piece of paper and pray for this particular thing and have them drop it in the box and believe for it by faith. Have the children thank God by faith that they have already received the answer to their prayer. Once the prayer has been answered they may remove the prayer request from the box and thank God for it.
