Counting the Cost for Little Ones
Have you ever been shopping with mommy or daddy and they
see something they would like to buy? Usually, mommy will
look in her purse to see if she has enough money to buy
the thing that she wants. This is called "counting the
cost". If she has enough money, she will go ahead and buy it.
Jesus told us in Luke 14:28-35 that we should count the
cost of being His disciple. He said that you should think
about what it will cost you to follow Him. Because He is
holy, He will want you to become holy, too. He wants you
to make Him most important in your life. More important
than your parents, your brother or sister, or any of your
toys or clothes. He wants you to obey Him, to do what He says.
Of course, when you decide that you are willing to make
Jesus the most important, He will be your best friend.
He will watch over you and guide you, and make sure that
you are always with Him. He will hold you close and teach
you to be like Him. Let's take some time right now to
pray. Let Jesus give you a hug while we are praying.
Father, we pray in the Name of Your Son, Jesus,
that you would draw us close. Help us, with the power of
the Holy Spirit, to decide in our heart that Jesus is the
Most Important. We pray that as He speaks to us, we would
be willing to follow Him, and obey everything He tells us.
Give us the desire to be holy, as He is holy.
Amen.
