The Boots of Peace

Ephesians 6:14-15
"Stand therefore, having girded your waist with the belt of truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;"

Mark 16:15
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation."

Objects needed: House slippers, dress shoes, boots, running shoes, thongs or sandals, and paint splattered shoes.

Almost everyone these days has more than one pair of shoes. Some people have dozens and dozens of shoes in their closet! Can you imagine that? That's because we use different shoes for different jobs we do and places we go.

Your mom probably wouldn't wear her slippers to church. (show the slippers) No, she would put on dress shoes, (show them) especially if she was wearing a dress. But if she were going to paint, she wouldn't wear her best dress shoes, because she wouldn't want to ruin them. (show the paint shoes) If she were going to run a long way, she wouldn't want to wear boots. (show boots) They would be bulky and heavy and would slow her down and make her tired. No, she would probably wear running shoes. (show tennis shoes) If there were ice and snow outside, she wouldn't want to wear thongs or sandals, would she? (show thongs or sandals) Her toes would freeze!

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6: 14,15 that after we have put on our Belt of Truth, and our Breastplate of Righteousness, we should shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. What this means is that we should always be ready to spread the gospel of peace wherever we go. What is the gospel of peace? The gospel of peace is the Good News of Jesus. When we wear the gospel of peace, the Good News of Jesus, on our feet, we will always be ready to go ANYWHERE. We don't have to change our spiritual shoes. We only need ONE PAIR !!

Mark 16:15 tell us to "go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation". When we shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace, the Good News of Jesus, everywhere we go we will make a difference in the lives of others.
